I am sure many of you are familiar with at least one fad diet, and some have heard of tips and tricks to help burn fat and lose weight. Advertisements of people on Youtube and across all forms of social media constantly stating this or that.
This is my diet that I use to maintain a lean body year round. This is my experience with my body and all the different factors that go into consideration.
My meal breakdown is as follows:
- Lunch: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
- Snack: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- Dinner: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
For the past 3 years, after watching Greg, the owner of a Youtube channel called Kinobody, advise Intermittent Fasting, I tried it myself and man did I really see great results. I will admit it is tough at the beginning as it took me a few months to truly adjust to not waking up and eating. One thing that I found to be effective to push into lunch outside of coffee was water. Many times I find myself hungry, my stomach growling, only to drink water and suppress the “hunger”. In general though, I found that anything with caffeine and had zero calories worked…truth be told, I even did an energy drink with zero sugar in the mornings and even that worked (although how healthy it was is debatable). I found that with college and lifting weights, there was no way I could not eat at least a light lunch.
One thing I did take away from the channel the most was actually enjoying a larger dinner. With this comes a new mentality to go with this diet of mine. Without going into it too much, I create this mindset that the day is for me to take, something that I work to be productive and accomplish tasks. At the end of the night, I am able to enjoy the fruits of my labor and relax.
Intermittent fasting, with that particular mindset, has given me a drive and motivation unlike any other that I have had previously. Not only that, it has allowed me to stay lean and fit throughout college (yes, including freshman year and that dreaded “freshman 15”). Again my experience after playing around with diets and counting calories and what not. But until next time…
