The second round of the NBA Playoffs has arrived. Let’s see who is going to come out and advance to the Conference Finals. But before that, let’s recap what happened in the first round. The Lakers takes the Trail Blazers in 5 games, with an late exit by Damian Lillard due to a knee injury. The Rockets and Thunder went to a game 7, with the Rockets barely pulling away despite controversial calls in the last minute of the game. The Nuggets and Jazz went to a game 7 too. Mike Conley of the Jazz had the last shot of the game and could’ve won the game to advance, but he missed. The Nuggets advances. The Clippers bet the Mavericks in 6 games. A valere effort by the Luca Doncic despite Kristaps Porzingis’s injury. The Bucks took the Magic in 5. In a series of sweeps, Heat swept the Pacers, Celtics swept the 76ers, and Raptors swept the Nets.
In other news, the Brooklyn Nets hired two-time MVP and Hall of Fame point guard, Steve Nash.
Lakers Vs Rockets
One of the best defensive team versus one of the best offensive team in the NBA. It’s clear that the Lakers are the favorites to come out of this series. The Lakers already defeated a tough opponent in the Trail Blazers with their Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. I don’t see this series going to be any different. If anything, the Rockets are the Trail Blazers if the Trail Blazers moved their defense into offense. Both teams have 2 high volume scoring guards which the team revolves around. The Lakers might lose a game or 2 since the Rockets are notorious for being unstoppable when all their players makes their shots. But defensively, the Rockets are in a clear disadvantage with the Lakers having Anthony Davis being able to defend almost any position. It would be interesting to see how the Lakers are going to set up their lineup in response to the Rockets’ small ball line up.
Clippers Vs Nuggets
Despite the Nuggets beating the Jazz in an exciting game 7, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic are known for being unreliable. Jamal Murray can easily put up 30+ points as he shown in the Jazz series, but he is also known for being highly inconsistent. Especially with the Clippers having some of the best defensive players in the league, Jamal Murray could struggle offensively against the Clippers. Nikola Jokic will without a doubt beat out whoever the Clippers put on him. The only issue for Jokic is his defense. Even though he lost some weight and seem a bit faster, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are for sure looking to get him on the switch and take advantage. By doing that, the Clippers can also tire out Jokic and make him more of a liability on both ends. The Nuggets are a great team, don’t get me wrong, but the odds are staked against them in this series. This series will go at most a game 5 with the Clippers coming out on top. Congratulations to Montrezl Harrell on winning this year’s Sixth Man of the Year.
Heat Vs Bucks
The Miami Heat is easily one of my favorite teams in the Eastern Conference this year. They are a young group led by experienced vets of the game. No player on the Heat is too dominating and every player plays as a team. When the playoffs started, I had the Heat coming out of the East, even over the favored Bucks and Celtics. And they are showing it now. They have yet to lose a single playoff game, leading the Bucks 2-0. The Heat are doing a great job defensively, containing Giannis Antetokounmpo. In my opinion, the Bucks is a 1 dimension team. Like a 1 dimension line contained by two points, the Bucks is contained by two players, Khris Middleton and Giannis. The Bucks has so much talent and potential on their roster that I wish they utilize them more instead of having Giannis driving in all day long and Middleton occasionally shooting the ball. I know the series at this point is halfway done, but I would not be surprised if the Heat sweeps the 1st seed Bucks.
Celtics Vs Raptors
Despite a dominating sweep by the Raptors against the Nets, they find themselves struggling against the Celtics down 2-1. The Raptors barely won 1 game by a game winning shot by OG Anunoby. The Celtics are playing solid with every player on the team doing well. The Raptors are doing somewhat well themselves, it’s just that their all star player, Pascal Siakam isn’t putting up all star like numbers. He’s putting up 15 ppg, which he could do better. The Raptors is a great team, but the Celtics is better. The Raptors won their last and final game of the series. Celtics in 5.
We appreciate y’all for letting us be a part of your Break Time.
