Citi has often been left behind in many eyes when it comes to the best credit card companies…as it should. Their customer service is subpar and its point value fails to compare to the likes of American Express and Chase. With the introduction of this card, I believe Citi may have climbed the ladder and is now only half a tier below Amex and Chase.

Bonus Categories

This card is unique in that the bonus category depends solely on you. There is nothing to select or activate; only thing needed is for you to spend in a pool of categories, and you will receive 5%/5x per dollar spend. I view Citi points worth a minimum of 1.1 cpp, which means that you are really earning at least 5.5% back on your spend. The categories are:

  • gas
  • dining
  • restaurants
  • travel
  • transit
  • streaming services
  • drugstores
  • home improvement
  • fitness clubs
  • live entertainment

The other categories will earn the standard 1%/1x per dollar spend.

Sign Up Bonus

As of right now, the card is offering a sign up bonus where you spend $750 in the first three months and receive $200/20,000TY points. The offer IS NOT AVAILABLE if you had received it within the past 48 months.

This credit card could play nicely into a Citi credit card set up alongside a combination of the Prestige, Premier, Rewards+, and Double Cash.

I personally got this card within a couple hours of hearing the news. I am going to be able to hit the sign up bonus immediately as it is not a large spend requirement. Given this, hopefully this has helped y’all with knowing the main attraction of this card. But until next time…

We appreciate y’all for letting us be a part of your Break Time.
